Grab your Bible and something to take notes with this is a quick one as we start to move into the Easter season, I would like you to reread John 14 this week and focus on the promises Jesus made before He went back to Heaven.
Matthew 5:9 says Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. I think that’s really important in times like these.
I want you to take the next 10 minutes to search your own heart. Ask yourself am I a peacemaker? In case you don’t know what that means the dictionary definition is a person who brings about peace -especially by reconciling with adversaries. Some of the qualities of a peacemaker are empathetic, easy-going, cooperative, friendly.
Ask yourself and really think about it. Am I bringing peace by my words, actions, texts or posts? We are called to be peacemakers; to be at peace, to live at peace. Like is says in Romans 12:18 to live IN peace with everyone.
During any time of crisis or grief, all kinds of stress build-up. Our adversary, the lying devil will fan those thoughts and triggers into a raging fire within us. He wants to tear us up from the inside out. Then use our anger and fear to spread destruction to our homes and communities, causing discourse and strife separating God’s people.
So, what do we do? First close your mouth Proverbs 21:23 says Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity. Step back, set your phone down- remove yourself from the negative, destructive words, thoughts and actions.
Step into the Peace that Jesus promised us before His death and resurrection. In John 14:27 “I leave you peace. It is my own peace I give you. I give you peace in a different way than the world does. So don’t be troubled. Don’t be afraid.” Cling to Jesus’ promise of peace that dwells in us- The Holy Spirit. Give Him praise and worship in His presence.
We are commanded in Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord. We are called to be peacemakers during this time of confusion, conflict, and chaos. Remember that we are promised peace. Be a peacemaker in your own life, in your family, in your community.
